Five notebooks detailing the Royal Commission of Enquiry into the Victorian Police Force and the circumstances of the Kelly gang outbreak, in the form of rough minutes and notes: March 23rd 1881 (Accession # 428960), March 24th 1881 (Accession # 428961), July 20th 1881 (Accession # 428963), September 7th 1881 and April 25th, to July 4th, 1882. The notebooks are entitled : Police Commission Enquiry and a good deal of the text is in short hand. In book (# 428961) there is a loose note with letterhead of the Royal Commission on Police Force, June 15th 1882, requesting a complete list of officers and men of the Police Force, together with their age and length of time in the service, and signed by Jas. Williams, Secretary. The first book (# 428960) in particular provides information relating to the Kelly Gang and records of various witnesse's testimonies including Father Gibney, who arrived at Glenrowan on the day of the siege. Numerous other names of police and witnesses are recorded including Mrs. Annie Sherritt (witness), George Fincham, Charles Nicholson, and Police Commissioner Chomley.
